WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Rapoport Academy students are trading desks for dirt and lesson plans for ledger sheets as community leaders celebrated a $20,000 grant expansion at the Garrison Community Garden on Tuesday morning.

Keep Waco Beautiful joined administrators from Rapoport Academy Public School, 4-H Youth Development, Prairie View A&M University Cooperative Extension, and Waco National Women in Agriculture for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the rollout of the Fall 2026 "Green Schools" project.

The $20,000 grant from Keep America Beautiful builds upon momentum from an earlier MLK Grant, fully funding the expansion of growing beds, new seeds, soil, and tools directly across from Rapoport Academy on Garrison Street.
