WACO, Texas (KWTX) - New state regulations targeting synthetic hemp products took effect Friday, pulling popular Delta-8 items from store shelves across Texas following a Texas Supreme Court ruling that classified Delta-8 as a controlled substance.

The Texas State Health Department is now enforcing a new definition for THC and marijuana extract - a change that largely impacts products containing Delta-8, Delta-10, and THCP.

Going forward, only naturally occurring, trace amounts of Delta-8 found in the hemp plant will be permitted under state law.
