HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) - Democratic candidate Rose Benavidez secured the Starr County judge's seat on Tuesday night, unofficial results show.

Benavidez becomes the first woman to serve as Starr County judge.

Benavidez received a total of 10,930 votes, or 77. 72%, while Villarreal received 3,133 votes or 22. 28% of the vote.
