HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas (KWTX) - As the start of the school year approaches, dozens of Central Texas children received more than just fresh haircuts Sunday - they left with a confidence boost.

The Harker Heights Police Department hosted its fourth annual Cuts with Cops event, offering free haircuts and hairstyling to help children prepare for the first day of school.

The event also aimed to ease the financial burden on families getting ready for the new school year."Just now, one of the grandmothers ... she thanked us and said that it was such a blessing," Healthy Homes Coordinator Erica Santoyo Gutierrez said.
