San Antonio Animal Care Services and San Antonio Pets Alive! are urging residents to foster shelter animals after storms knocked out power, leaving hundreds of dogs and cats in hot kennels.

Lisa Norwood, the ACS public relations manager, said staff brought in swamp fans to cool the kennels, but conditions are worsening as temperatures rise.

"It's starting to get hotter and hotter, and we do not know when the power is going to be coming back on," Norwood said.
