About 50 Esperanza residents gathered last week to hear city officials discuss a long sought-after second entry-exit point for the community.

Engineering and Mobility Director Jeff Carroll told residents that discussions are underway regarding the second roadway planned to the east of Esperanza Boulevard, connecting Highway 46 to Galisteo Road in the development.

City representatives recently met with the Lookout Group, the development company behind Esperanza, and work on the connection is expected to begin in late summer or early fall of 2026. "Transportation planning isn't about reacting to today's traffic," Carroll said.
