The Brown County Museum of History posted the following information on social medial Friday: Today, on National Purple Heart Day, we pause to honor the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of the men and women who were wounded or gave their lives in service to our nation.

Here at the Brown County Museum of History, we are privileged to preserve the stories of six Purple Heart recipients whose service and sacrifice are forever woven into the history of our community: Their stories remind us that freedom has always come at a tremendous cost.

Whether they made the ultimate sacrifice, were declared missing in action, or returned home bearing the wounds of war, each demonstrated remarkable bravery and an unwavering commitment to serving others.
