A man is expected to spend two decades behind bars for shooting a woman in the head after a verbal argument in an apartment parking lot in 2023.

This week, Bernard "Berney" Garvin Jr., 35, was found guilty of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting at the Hilton Head Gardens apartment complex in June of that year.
