TYLER, Texas (KLTV) -Texas voters delivered a political earthquake, ending three decades of Republican dominance by electing Democrats in major statewide races while leaving state government divided between the two parties."It was a reversal of 30 years of political history," said Dr. Matthew Wilson, a political science professor at Southern Methodist University.

Among the major victories was the election of state Rep. James Talarico to the U.S. Senate."I am not going to Washington to represent the Democratic Party," Talarico said.

"I'm going to Washington to represent this beautiful state and every person who lives here. And so I look forward to working on a bipartisan basis to serve all Texans."For the first time since Ann Richards served in the 1990s, a Democrat will occupy the Governor's Mansion.
