Geneva School of Boerne made the most of its homecoming football game on Friday night and earned a hard-fought 23-21 win against Holy Cross of San Antonio to secure the second playoff spot from TAPPS Division III District 3. "I couldn't be more proud," said Geneva School of Boerne head football coach Adam Foren.
"We played outstanding on defense. It's a credit to our defensive staff. Championship-type teams have to win in different ways." The Eagles improved their season record to 8-1 and district record to 4-1. They will wrap up the regular season and continue to prepare for November's TAPPS Division III postseason during the 7 p.m. district finale at Houston St. Francis Episcopal School on Oct. 30. The Knights, meanwhile, dropped their year mark to 3-5 and league mark to 2-3 before they host league mate Corpus Christi St. John Paul II Academy at the same time.
Geneva leaned on quarterback Caleb Quitadamo's fast start to build up a double-digit, first-half lead.
