TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - The countywide burn ban in Smith County remains in effect, Fire Marshal Chad Hogue said during Tuesday's meeting of the Smith County Commissioners Court.

Hogue said he is hoping forecasted rain later this week will help with drought conditions."But we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully it's a county car wash on Thursday," Hogue said.

There were 28 reported wildfires and two citations issued during the sixth week of the ban, according to Hogue.
