TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) - Baylor Scott & White McLane Children's Medical Center marked its 15th anniversary Tuesday with staff, patient families and community supporters, celebrating a decade and a half of expanded pediatric care in Central Texas.

The facility opened in 2011 as the only dedicated children's hospital between Dallas and Austin.

Over the past 15 years, it has expanded into a regional referral center offering pediatric trauma services, a Level IV neonatal intensive care unit and more than 40 pediatric specialties."This is an extremely exciting day for us. To be 15 years old is really amazing. I've been here every step of the journey," said Dr. Dominic Lucia, Chief Medical Officer of McLane Children's Medical Center.
