The Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library, in partnership with the Heart of the Hills Heritage Center, will host local author Richard W. Butler Jr. for a presentation about his book, "Hill Country Ball," at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, in the first-floor meeting room.

Through stories in his book, Butler explores how baseball helped strengthen community bonds during times of economic hardship.

The book also tells the story of the Kerrville All-Stars, a Black baseball team that overcame the challenges of the Great Depression and Jim Crow segregation and helped unite its community.
