A 68-year-old woman was shot and killed while sitting on the back porch of her North Carolina home on Monday, according to her family.

The deadly shooting happened late in the afternoon on Oct. 19, at the Dwell Townhomes on Hillgate Avenue in Gastonia.

The family of Pamela Shanks told WBTV that Shanks was sitting on her porch, which backs up to Laurel Lane, when the fatal shots were fired.
