SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - Grayson County has renewed its agreement with Cooke County to help jail inmates, despite the new jail expansion nearing completion.

The Grayson County Sheriff's Office said once the new wing opens in November, inmates will move there while the old section is remodled.

The renovations will include inmate housing upgrades and new showers to provide a safe environment for jail staff and inmates."We're maintaining that relationship into this new budget year, but once that jail is finally completed, and that remodel is complete, and staffing is up, and we can fully open that jail to its fullest capacity, then we will reevaluate the necessity of those relationships," said Lt. Jeremy Cox of the Grayson County Sheriff's Office.
