Cemetery walk unites descendants with 'ancestor' When Carolyn Chipman Evans, her son and granddaughter strolled into Boerne Cemetery last weekend, they had a particular reason for the visit - to meet Evans' grandmother and namesake, Carolyn Kampmann Herff, who died 124 years ago.

The trio - Evans, her son Jonah Evans, and 13-year-old Phoebe Evans - met with, hugged and had their picture taken with Herff .

Schroeder welcomed attendees to the annual Boerne Cemetery "Gone but Not Forgotten" Walk, sponsored by the Genealogical Society of Kendall County in conjunction with the Patrick Heath Public Library and the Boerne Parks and Recreation Department.
