As temperatures begin to drop in Houston, many residents are pulling out their hoodies, boots and space heaters.

But before turning up the heat, firefighters are reminding people to take precautions to prevent fires and keep their homes safe.

Firefighters demonstrated several fire safety tips at Station 2, located at 13040 Wortham Center Drive in Houston, using fire pits, fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and space heaters.
