(KGNS) - More than 650,000 Texans have lost their SNAP benefits so far in 2026, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a research and analysis institute.

New federal rules set to begin in October are expected to shift more of the cost and the paperwork onto states.

One retired 64-year-old woman, who wished to remain off camera, said her SNAP benefits are more than a month late."I brought all the papers like a month ago, month and a half, and when I checked this morning to see if I received my SNAP, they were not there," she said.
