BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Former legendary Texas A&M head football coach R.C. Slocum will soon receive one of the most prestigious honors in Texas sports: the Texas Sports Hall of Fame's 2026 Lamar Hunt Lifetime Achievement Award.

Coach Slocum is only the eighth recipient of the award since its inception in 2006, and the first in Aggie history to receive the honor."It's the most prestigious award we have at the museum," said Bruce Gietzen, a member of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame Board Executive Committee.

"R.C. Slocum certainly fits" the criteria of sports figures who are "innovative" and "distinctive," and who represent their sport and community well.
