AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) -Construction on the Panhandle's first state psychiatric hospital has topped out, marking a milestone that allows crews to begin work on the inside of the building.

The hospital broke ground in May 2025.

The facility will hold 75 patients, including 50 forensic beds and 25 civil beds.
