BRAZOS VALLEY, Texas (KBTX) - More than 60 nonprofit leaders from across the Brazos Valley spent Friday taking part in the first-ever Nonprofit Leadership Summit at the Visitor Event Center in College Station.

The free, half-day event, hosted by United Way Brazos Valley and the City of College Station, focused on board governance."Boards are really important," said David Brower, Community Development Administrator for the City of College Station.

"They set the vision, they direct the nonprofit to where it's going to go... and are responsible for how it's run."Brower said the City used grant funding to help make the event possible, and hopes to bring it back annually.
