LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Lubbock County election workers spent Monday preparing more than 30 polling locations ahead of Election Day, following record-breaking early voting turnout across the county.
Nearly 81,000 residents cast ballots during the early voting period, and Lubbock County Elections Administrator Troy Havard said he expects an equal or greater number of voters on Tuesday."I have to tell you that I'm absolutely proud of everyone in Lubbock County, because we have had more turnout in early voting than we have had in any year in the last 20 years, for midterms," Havard said.
"We even broke some records for some presidentials. So far, 2024 has been a really high point for us, so if we break the record for that, I'll be really impressed."Workers assembled voting machines and secured them using serialized tracking seals across 36 polling locations in the county, including the Student Union Building at Texas Tech University."Everything has a seal. A seal is serialized," Havard said.
