COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Bob Yancy was elected mayor of College Station on Tuesday night after opponent Elizabeth Cunha conceded the race.

Yancy, a two-term former city councilman, secured 18,365 votes to Cunha's 12,691."It's incredible," Yancy said in a live interview with KBTX on election night.

"My family and I live the College Station dream. We want to help ensure that for future generations, retirees, everybody all of our citizens."In an exclusive interview with KBTX last month, Yancy noted that rising housing costs and ongoing growth make it increasingly difficult for younger generations to thrive, calling growth a "two-sided coin" that brings traffic and housing challenges alongside job creation and economic benefits."On an extraordinary night in political results, our message resonated, and I'm very proud of that," Yancy said.
