KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - A plan to rezone a proposed location for a homeless shelter in Killeen is moving forward after the Planning and Zoning Commission cleared the way for the city council to consider the rezoning request.
Armor of God Outreach hopes to open a homeless shelter at the proposed location once Friends in Crisis has to shutter most of its operations at the end of the year.
A lack of funding has forced Friends in Crisis to focus more on its domestic violence and veteran's programs, and JT Haun and Armor of God is stepping up to fill the void for a homeless shelter.
