Taylor's rising status as a high-tech center and home to a growing number of industries has prompted the city's Economic Development Corp. to designate October as "Manufacturers Month." In making the announcement, EDC officials said manufacturing has become an important part of Taylor's economy by creating jobs, supporting local businesses, generating capital investment and strengthening the city's role not only in the Central Texas economy but also in the global marketplace.

The proclamation from the EDC board recognizes the manufacturers, employees, workforce partners and educators working to advance the area's continued economic growth, officials said.

"Manufacturing is helping shape the future of Taylor," said Chairwoman Betty Day in a prepared release.
