Louie Mueller Barbecue has been serving barbecue in Taylor for more than 75 years, and now the longtime business is being recognized by the Texas Historical Commission as a historic Texas business.

Last month, Louie Mueller Barbecue was featured in the commission's "Texas Treasures of the Table," a collection showcasing restaurants in the Greater Austin area that have been recognized through the Texas Treasure Business Award Program.

In a press release, the commission said the restaurants represent more than places to eat, pointing to their role as gathering places where families and friends have celebrated milestones and traditions over generations.
