-- On a bright Saturday morning, Oakland's Ira Jinkins Recreation Center is swarming with children running, jumping and learning the fundamentals of sports.
"When a kid goes out and play sports, they're doing more than kicking a ball, throwing a ball, hitting a ball," Executive Director of Every Kid Sports, Eleana Fanaika explains, "They're learning that they have a whole community behind them. They make new friends. They learn to show up." "It's really important to a child's development to play lots of different sports," President and General Manager of ABC7 David Wurtzel adds.
Disney Jr., ESPN, ABC7, have teamed up with Oakland Parks, Recreation, and Youth Development, Eat.
