HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) -- The city of Brownsville officially announced its new police chief.

Angel L. Figueroa, Jr. will join the ranks of the Brownsville Police Department, bringing more than 20 years of law enforcement experience.

Figueroa was appointed by Brownsville City Manager Alan Guard.
