MIDLAND, Texas - The Midland Development Corporation board met to address several items on its docket, including a presentation from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center on the Permian Basin Specialty Care Center in Midland.

Dr. Brian Schroeder, regional dean and professor at TTUHSC, spoke about how the center could benefit the community."One of the interesting things, patients don't want to have to drive more than six minutes to see their primary care doctor," Schroeder said.

"All this is to keep these 175,000 patients here in the Permian Basin to be able to then reinvest the moneys that would be lost to outmigration. Keep that here."Schroeder hopes to gain support for the project.
