Guadalupe County Commissioners Court recently parted ways with the head of its engineering department, marking the second such separation since the court created the engineer position fewer than five years ago.

Engineering/Project Manager Barry Black said the court gave him no opportunity to defend his work and held a closed-door executive session to decide to remove him from the position.

Members of the court exited the executive session and effectively told him he would either quit or be fired, Black said.
