East Texas (KLTV) - A young American black bear continues to roam East Texas along the Neches River corridor, wildlife officials confirmed Wednesday.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Biologist Rueben Gay confirmed that the region's visiting black bear is "alive, healthy and still roaming wild and free in East Texas." The bear, who has not been given a name, is estimated to be around two to two-and-a-half years old and weighs between 100 and 200 pounds, based on photos Gay received throughout the summer, according to the Texas Black Bear Alliance (TBBA).

It has frequently visited deer feeders across Anderson, Cherokee and Henderson counties, despite remaining cautious and weary of humans, with no reported aggression towards livestock, pets or people, the TBBA noted in a press release.
