CARTHAGE, Texas (KLTV) - The Carthage Fire Department held its sixth annual Walk of Remembrance for first responders lost on 9/11.

Their message this year was to carry the memory forward."I remember specifically where I was that day. I was at work," Carthage Fire Marshal Randy Liedtke said.

"Someone said: Hey, I think a plane just hit the tower in New York. We turned the TV on and just stood there in awe. It seems like it was just yesterday, for this to be 25 years it just doesn't seem possible."412 steps for 412 fallen first responders."It's hard! And I can't imagine what it was like for them. It's hot and I know they were hot. But they were awesome people and we're glad we have our first responders," Nan, a walk participant, said.
