LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - The Lufkin City Council unanimously approved a preliminary zoning change for part of Spence Street that could allow one additional lot for housing, overriding the Planning and Zoning Commission's recommendation to deny the request.
Homes sit near industrial properties on Spence Street.
Developer D'Andria Banks wants to change a vacant property's zoning from light manufacturing to "residential small." The change would allow narrower lots - 40 feet wide instead of 50 - making room for an additional lot.
