WICHITA COUNTY, Texas (KAUZ) - Wichita County Commissioners are taking the first steps toward bringing a state veterans home to the area by beginning discussions about potentially donating county-owned property for the project.

Commissioners agreed Tuesday to begin discussions with the Texas Veterans Land Board about donating the property, which was once home to the Wichita County Farm.

Established in 1912, the county farm operated for more than 60 years and provided shelter and care for indigent, disabled and elderly residents.
