TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - A lucky Marine Corps veteran got the surprise of a lifetime after a large convoy of car enthusiasts, spectators and fellow veterans arrived at his doorstep to deliver a free home makeover."He has no idea that we're coming," said Benjamin Pate, founder of Vettes for Vets Texas, the organization spearheading the surprise.

"He's one of those guys that, if it were up to him, we would give it to somebody else."Pate said the veteran, 73-year-old Darrell Farrell, has been heating his home with a wood fireplace and cooling it with air conditioning window units."We're going to take all of that out," Pate said, noting the organization planned to install central heating and air, paint his house and shingle a new roof, among other improvements.

Pate said Farrell, who served four years as a Marine, was nominated and selected by Vettes For Vets' board based on his home utility and structural needs."I had no clue," Farrell said, recalling the moment he opened his door expecting to see his oldest daughter.
