The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed a tornado touched down at around 8 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of I-10 and Loop 1604, damaging shops at The Rim shopping center, including the Santikos Palladium cinema.

In a statement, the City of San Antonio said the fire department is also on the scene at an apartment complex at 6023 UTSA Boulevard "assessing multiple properties for damage." The statement asked residents to avoid the affected areas to let first responders go about their duties and ensure they're safe.
