BIG SPRING, Texas - A celebration honoring the lives and memories of loved ones who have passed away is returning to Big Spring, with organizers hoping to establish Da de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, as an annual community tradition.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 1, at Mount Olive Cemetery, with activities tentatively set to begin at 2 p.m. Organizer Lucy Flores said the celebration will bring families and friends together for an afternoon of music, food, traditional decorations, and shared memories of loved ones who have passed away.
Da de los Muertos is a traditional Mexican observance celebrated primarily on Nov. 1 and 2, with festivities often beginning Oct. 31.
