The 36th Infantry Division Band, otherwise known as the Lone Star Band, is famous for its role representing the Texas Army National Guard as it provides musical support within military operations, fosters community support and promotes national interests, according to the band's website.
The band is now based at Camp Mabry in Austin, but what many people may not know is that the band got its start here in New Braunfels.
It first formed on April 1, 1937 in New Braunfels as the Band Section, Service Battery, 133rd Field Artillery - an element of the 36th division, according to the website.
