Texas horned lizards, often called "horny toads," are returning to the wild after San Antonio Zoo and Zoo Miami released 55 of them at a Texas ranch on Monday.

The Center for Conservation & Research at San Antonio Zoo and Zoo Miami carried out the Oct. 26 release as part of the Texas Horned Lizard Reintroduction Project, an ongoing effort to restore the species to areas where its populations have declined.

Of the 55 lizards released, 25 came from Zoo Miami.
