TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Therapet is preparing for its 15th annual Totally Unleashed gala on Oct. 24 at the W.T. Brookshire Conference Center to raise funds for its animal-assisted therapy programs.

The event runs from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and helps fund the nonprofit's mission of providing specially trained animals to hospitals, schools, rehabilitation centers and community organizations throughout East Texas."Animal-assisted therapy is just basically inserting the dogs into a situation where they're helping as a modality," Therapet Executive Director Elysia Reineck said.

The types of therapy pets can assist with includes physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech pathology work, according to Reineck.
