LUFKIN, Texas (KLTV) - Lufkin ISD is considering a transition to kindergarten through fifth grade campus model to bring greater stability to students and their families.

"It's not a preconceived conclusion," said Jill Gatson, the district's deputy superintendent.

"We are genuinely looking at this alignment through as many lens as we can..."Currently, the district splits younger students across two separate facilities: primary schools for kindergarten through second grade, and elementary campuses for grades three through five.
