The Brownwood Lions were less than a minute away from an upset of the reigning Class 4A Division I state champion and top-ranked Stephenville Yellow Jackets a week ago, but look to build on the positives from that contest as they host another ranked foe in the Class 4A Division I No. 10 Springtown Porcupines.

Kickoff between the Lions (1-1), playing in their second straight home contest, and Porcupines (0-2) is slated for 7 p.m. Friday at Gordon Wood Stadium.

Springtown was the preseason No. 3 team in Class 4A Division I by Dave Campbell's Texas Football, but has started its campaign with losses to current 4A Division II No. 7 Brock, 42-20, and preseason 4A Division II No. 10 Robinson, 38-35.
