LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - James Talarico and Gina Hinojosa won their races in the midterm elections Tuesday, marking a significant change in Texas politics.

Even members of the Democratic Party were surprised when Tuesday's midterm election results came in.

Gracie Gomez, the Lubbock Democratic Party Chair, says it's a historic shift for the state."I expected changes across the country; I expected changes in the Talarico race, but we prevailed in almost every single race," Gomez said.
