HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) - An investigation is underway after an Edinburg police officer was shot Thursday morning, according to a city spokesperson.

The officer sustained at least one gunshot wound and has been taken to a local hospital.

Officials say they have secured the scene and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
