BALCONES HEIGHTS, Texas - Balcones Heights Mayor Johnny Rodriguez was arrested Wednesday for misdemeanor assault, according to the Balcones Heights Police Department.

"Rodriguez was taken into custody following an incident that occurred on Monday, Aug. 24, at a Balcones Heights City Council meeting," police said in a news release.

Rodriguez was arrested by the Bexar County Constable Precinct 2. "The Balcones Heights Police Department takes the matter very seriously and wants to assure the community that all operations will continue as normal," the release said.
