SUGAR LAND, Texas -- Sugar Land residents could see an increase in the city's tax rate.
At an Aug. 18 meeting, Sugar Land City Council proposed a maximum tax rate of $0. 381116 per $100 of taxable value-an increase of more than 6% from the current rate of $0. 358827.
The proposed rate is above the city's no-new-revenue rate of $0. 355381, which is the rate that would generate the same property tax revenue as the prior year, Director of Budget ShaLae Steadman said.
