PLAINVIEW, Texas - Classes and campus operations at Wayland Baptist University's Plainview campus have been cancelled for the remainder of Wednesday following a morning gas leak nearby.

Just after 9 a.m., emergency crews responded to a gas leak near the intersection of Seventh and Quincy streets.

University officials issued a SafeZone Alert at 9:22 a.m. and completed a precautionary campus evacuation shortly after, relocating students to the Laney Student Activity Center safely away from the affected area.
