ALPINE, Texas (KOSA) - The City of Alpine has implemented mandatory Stage-4 Critical Water Shortage conditions following equipment failures within its municipal well system that have impacted the city's water supply and distribution capabilities.

City officials say the restrictions are not the result of a water shortage."That's the great news. It is not a water shortage. We have plenty of water. It's not a shortage, it's an infrastructure problem," Mayor Catherine Eaves said.

Decades-old wells at the root of the problemMayor Eaves said the city's well infrastructure dates back decades, with some of the newest wells built in the 1960s.
