AUSTIN, Texas (KLTV) - Democrats have seized control of the Texas House for the first time in more than 20 years, breaking the Republican trifecta that has governed since 2003, according to The Texas Tribune.
Democrats entered Tuesday's midterm elections needing to flip 14 seats in the 150-member House of Representatives.
According to the Tribune, by Wednesday afternoon, the Associated Press had called 11 Republican-held seats for Democrats, three GOP incumbents had conceded, and Democrats led in at least seven other districts where all Election Day votes had been counted.
