A Seguin woman embroiled in a years-long defamation lawsuit surrounding a Netflix documentary that unfairly painted her in a negative light won an $8. 5 million judgement recently in a San Antonio court.

A district court jury ruled Monday that things said during at least one episode of the 2020 docu-series defamed Tonya Barina of Seguin by painting a false depiction of her as someone taking advantage of the great uncle a court ordered her to serve as a guardian, Barina's San Antonio-based attorney Glenn Deadman said.
